Tuscany Easy Travel is offering a unique Southern Italy experience. After a couple of days in Rome we move to the Rionero in Vulture (area of the volcano). You will spend that days visiting local vineyards and restaurants specific to this area. Tasting the wine from the Aglianico grape produced in the centuries old ash of the Volcano with our own private Sommelier. Take a day trip to Sassi di Matera one of the oldest cities in the world. Spend time by the beach in Maratea with mountain and seaside views that are specific to this area.

I am very happy to be able to provide a special opportunity to have a certified personal Sommelier and my Italian friend Monica Maretti for our time visiting the wines cellars in the vulture. She is and Italian wine blogger and qualified Sommelier. She writes on http://www.acinoparlante.it/

Day one: Arrive in Rome “When in Rome” Depending on your arrival time we will have a dinner out for your first taste of Authentic Italian Cuisine of Rome.
Day Two: This day we will have a walking tour of Rome touching on the highlightsThis day we will make our way to The Pantheon, Piazza Venezia & Victor Emmanuel Monument, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps &Piazza di Spagna, Arch Of Constantine, Trajan’s Column, and Column Of Marcus Aurelius (Marc Anthony) We will pass by the Colosseum and the Palatine Hill and Rome Forum. We will end the day at St. Peter’s Square in Vatican City.
Day three: We head to the Southern Region of Basilicata Rionero in Vulture (Volcano area). We will check into the Grand Hotel Garden in Rionero. This Hotel has a swimming pool area as well as a restaurant and provides a lovely breakfast each morning. This evening we will have our first taste of the wines specific to the area of the Vulture. We will have a wine tasting and a meal on the veranda of one of the premier vineyards of the Vulture Terra dei Re
Day Four: The morning free to relax pool side and enjoy the lovely weather of this area. In the afternoon we will head out once again to another premier cantina of the area. Cantina Re Manfredi where we will enjoy the breathtaking view of what is left of the volcano that has made this land so rich for the wine with remarkable taste. We will have lunch and wine as well as a tour of the facility.

In the evening is filled with a visit a family winery The Michele Laluce Winery located at the foot of the extinct volcano producing Aglianico del Vulture DOC. We will have dinner paring the food with the wines of this producer.
Day Five: A break from the our wine tasting for a day of site seeing in the historic city of Matera located in a southern corner of Basilicata. The history of this ancient places is quite fascinating until the 1950 this village of caves was a place of poverty, malaria and a high mortality rate. The members of this community lived in caves that had no running water, sewage system, and no electricity. Around 1955 to the late 60’s families where moved to the newer part of the city. In 1993 this area became a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Films such as the Passion of Christ starting Mel Gibson amoung many others have been filmed at this location. Due to many untouched parts of the city of caves. We will have lunch in Matera as well as our evening of local cuisine. We will head back to Rio Nero for another full day on day six.

Day Six: It will be a day to savor the flavor of the wines of Rionero in Vulture once more. After we have breakfast and a bit of time to relax we will head out for lunch and wine tasting at the Cantina del Notaio in the heart of the city of Rionero this cantina has secret passageways that hold centuries of wine making history.

We will finish our afternoon with our last wine tasting of this Aglianico grape region. A family of wine specialist Mother, Father, and their two daughters create a variety of wines of the Vulture.
We will end our day with a planned evening meal at the hotel. It will be time to pack up, as we are moving to the seaside for our next Basilicata adventure!
Day Seven: We pack up and head out for the seaside. But before we arrive we will spend the afternoon “Inside the Volcano” We will visit the Museum and have a stroll around the lake. While in the volcano we will have lunch before traveling to the seaside hotel near Maratea.

Day Eight: A day at the beach we will take advantage of the beach front hotel. In the evening we will venture out to a local family owned restaurant for some authentic typical southern dishes from the area. As you relax on the beach you can look up to see the statue of Christ the Redeemer on the top of Monte San Biagio.
Day Nine: Up the mountain to the Statue of the Redeemer. Arriving atop the mountain to the famous statue of Christ the Redeemer. The views from the mountain are breathtaking. We will spend some time atop the mountain enjoying the view and making some memories.

On this evening we will again find an authentic family restaurant with traditional Italian cuisine.
Day Ten: Our last day in Basilicata we will spend a leizure morning packing up luggage, possibility with a little more time on the beach? In late afternoon we we will take a drive to the small village of Nemoli with a stop at a beautiful area Lake Sirino. After we spend some time around the lake we will head into the village of Nemoli as we have a personal invitation of one of the residents family home for an early dinner.

Day Eleven: Today we say good-bye to Basilicata as we make our way back to Rome. On our way to the hotel near the airport we will make one last stop. A late afternoon visit to the historic area Antico Ostia. This historic Port town was discovered after spending centuries under the stilt of the Tiber River.

Day Twelve: Saying “Arrivederci” to Italy. Packing up your luggage and your memories of your Italian Adventure in Italy. Making our way to the airport to catch your flight.
This exclusive trip is for a minimum of 4 people with a maximum of 8 people. Single travelers are welcome. You will always have someone to accompany you and you will not feel like a person in a crowd of people. Specific dates will be determined upon confirmation of flight information. Price will be determined on double or single occupancy and number in group.
